AMERICAN GENERAL CONTRACTING
& CONSULTING
BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR RON MCILNAY:
The following is a brief overview of my background and experience.
After serving 6 years in airborne communications and data link
with the military service, I began working with the Research & Development
section of Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, California. I then
received the opportunity to track spacecraft, working a couple
years for Bendix Field Engineering and with JPL / NASA at the
Echo site of Goldstone Tracking Station outside of Barstow,
California as an Operations Engineer in the Telemetry and Data
Recording Systems departments.
I moved from the desert area for family reasons and moved to
the Seattle, Washington area for better weather and climate conditions
and to further my education in engineering at the University
of Washington. Since then, my wife and I raised a family of 4
children while living in 4 different homes that we designed and
built as our family grew. We now live in Kitsap County, on the
West side of Puget Sound where we have lived for 14 years, of
which the last two have been in our home that we built near Kingston,
Washington.
My electronics career has taken me from design engineering, through
electronic manufacturing and assembly and into quality assurance
with companies in the commercial products, commercial aerospace,
deep space and medical industries. I have been privileged to
work on many industry standards working committees and was honored
by the joint tri-service militaries by being given the Navy “Salty
Dog” in April, 1989, the award for reliability, maintainability
and quality assurance. This award was for my work as a subcommittee
chairman in the effort to combine all of the various Army, Navy
and Air Force electronic assembly and acceptance requirements
into one document, which we accomplished with Mil Standard 2000.
My latest employment has been in the medical device industry
working with product design, manufacturing and quality assurance
groups. I served as mentor and consultant to their new and sustaining
product engineering staff on how to achieve the highest quality
and most cost effective product designs while meeting their product
goals and industry standards required to be a world class medical
device manufacturer.
I now consult with companies in how to design, develop and deliver
more efficient and manufacturable electronic designs to their
market in the shortest time, using efficient supply chain management,
obtaining lowest overall product cost, and maintain their greatest
customer satisfaction.
I am now offering my expertise, skills and knowledge to companies
who need assistance in the areas I have experience, especially
in interface with suppliers to gain maximum support and quality
product as well as with design teams that struggle with understanding
manufacturing constraints and true cost of non-quality. I have
been consulting with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams
for over 25 years and have learned methods that are successful
in achieving the cost and quality goals you strive for.
